About us

We live in the peaceful countryside of Mäntsälä, Southern Finland. Our dogs share our everyday life as part of a large family, and they get to fulfill their original purpose — guarding our home and small farm. For us, the Boerboel is not just a breed. It’s a way of life.

Our breeding program is built on the original breed standard, healthy bloodlines, and a strong, stable temperament. We don't breed for exaggerated looks or trends — our goal is to preserve the Boerboel as it was meant to be: a powerful, brave, and loyal working dog. Every pairing we plan is intentional and part of a long-term vision, never a random decision.

Our puppies grow up in the heart of our home, surrounded by children, people, and everyday life. From an early age, they are introduced to a variety of sounds, surfaces, situations, and gentle handling. Before leaving for their new homes, each puppy is temperament-tested using the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to ensure they are matched with the right family.

Our journey with the breed began in 2003, when we started looking for a healthy, long-lived and active molosser. The first time we saw a Boerboel left a deep impression — its presence, quiet confidence, and loyal gaze made it clear that this could be the right breed for us. At that time, the Boerboel was practically unknown in Finland, but the spark had been lit, and we never forgot it.

In 2012, after years of searching, we finally brought home our first imported dog: Savanna Boerboele Chelentano, a male from a specific pairing we had admired for a long time. Originally, we were supposed to get a male from the first litter of that same combination — but at the time, our living conditions weren’t suitable for the breed. Because we couldn’t take the puppy, we eventually encouraged the breeder to keep him at home.

The pairing was later repeated, and from that second litter came Chelentano — a dog who exceeded all our expectations and became so much more than just our first import.
Years later, we also imported two of the original male’s offspring. They became our fourth and fifth imports and have played a key role in our foundation.
One of them, Savanna Boerboele Ariel, still lives with us today. He is soon 11 years old and remains proud, sharp, and deeply loved as the eldest of our pack.

All our dogs are active beyond the home — we train and work with them in various disciplines, continue our education, and monitor their health, structure, and temperament closely.

I completed the Finnish Kennel Club’s breeder course in 2010.
The kennel name Tuebor Boerboels was granted by Boerboel International in 2013, and the FCI officially approved Tuebor in 2015.

We have been actively involved with the Finnish Boerboel Association since its founding and remain committed to preserving the breed in Finland and beyond.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with incredible Boerboel people and breeders around the world — people who share the same mission: to keep the Boerboel true, functional, healthy, and deeply rooted in its original purpose.

Our Breeding Principles

Our goal is to breed healthy and, above all, good-natured Boerboels that reflect the original breed standard.

Years of dedicated background work have helped us define the kind of dogs we want to live with in our large family — and how we want Boerboels to remain in the future.

We have no interest in turning the breed into an oversized, overboned, sluggish companion dog.

Through our breeding choices, we strive to preserve the Boerboel as it was meant to be: an active, healthy, functional farm dog with a strong guarding instinct.

Because of this philosophy, we chose to focus on one of the oldest and most respected original bloodlines: the Mizpah Boerboels.

Given the breed's already narrow gene pool, we actively avoid the overuse of popular sires and their offspring. Today, most Boerboels around the world are genetically related in some way, and the original working lines are disappearing.

Every one of our dogs can be traced back to the founding dogs of the breed, and we do not use individuals or bloodlines that entered the gene pool after the early 2000s.

The Mizpah line was developed by one of the breed's most legendary figures, Oom Lucas van der Merwe — a founding member of the SABT (and later HSBA). In the 1980s, he traveled across South Africa to locate the last remaining authentic Boerboels and form a foundational breeding base.

Oom Lucas had grown up with this breed and made it his mission to preserve its original character — avoiding dogs that were overly large, extreme, or aggressive. We share this philosophy wholeheartedly.

Although Oom Lucas sadly passed away in 2010, his daughter Carin Yorke Hart (née van der Merwe) continues the legacy of the Mizpah line in South Africa. And thanks to her, our first pure Mizpah was born to us, our "black" African princess Authentic Mizpah Savannah.

All of our breeding dogs are tested for:

  • Hips (HD)
  • Elbows (ED)
  • Spine (LTV, VA, SP)
  • Knees
  • Heart (auscultation)
  • Eyes
  • Vaginal hyperplasia (females) / testicles (males)
  • DNA profiling (including HUU and CMR1)
  • Psychomotor epilepsy

In addition to health, we also evaluate temperament and structural soundness — because preserving the Boerboel means preserving the whole dog, not just what's visible on paper.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of meeting and getting to know many dedicated Boerboel enthusiasts and breeders. Some of them have become close friends, and we continue to value those relationships deeply.

Whenever possible, we aim to collaborate with responsible breeders abroad who share our vision and commitment to preserving and improving the breed.

With Boerboels, you never stop learning. Even after all these years, we feel that our journey of understanding and honoring this incredible breed has only just begun.
