Tuebor Boerboels’ breeding and foundation dogs have always been among the most comprehensively health-tested Boerboels in Finland – and they always will be. This is a core principle for us, as healthy and well-balanced dogs are the foundation of all breeding work.
People often notice a breeder’s work only when puppies are born or new photos are shared. In reality, most of the work happens long before the first litter is even planned. I spend countless hours studying pedigrees – tracing ancestors, comparing their health results, temperaments, and structure.
I use pedigree database trial breeding tools to combine different dogs, including potential future imports, to see what kind of combinations they might produce. This is not a quick decision but long-term work, where every bloodline, health record, structure, and pedigree combination is carefully evaluated.
At the same time, I work two jobs, because ethical breeding is never a “full-time job” in the traditional sense – and no long-time breeder working for the good of the breed does this for a living. When more than twenty puppies are born in a year, it becomes practically impossible to stay updated on the health and temperament of all dogs. In such cases, breeding decisions often compromise on quality, with a heavier focus on appearance rather than overall soundness.
For us, breeding is much more than a beautiful exterior – it’s long-term work for healthy, good-tempered, and functionally sound Boerboels.
Over the years, there have been unexpected situations, as life with dogs doesn’t always go exactly as planned. Still, every considered breeding decision has been backed by thorough research and careful preparation.
All of our results are available as open statistics on our website – for both breeding dogs and offspring. We no longer publish individual health results for pet dogs; owners may share them if they wish. We update the statistics as dogs are tested and results become available – the pace depends on how time allows. This way, information remains transparent and the overall situation of the breed can be monitored without unnecessary drama.
This quiet, often unseen work is the foundation on which we build the future. When a breeding works out and produces healthy, good-tempered, and structurally strong dogs, I know that every evening spent at the computer, every pedigree comparison, and every careful decision was worth it.
